AWS (Amazon Web Services) Course Content – 1000 Words
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s leading cloud computing platform, powering millions of enterprises, startups, and government organizations. As companies rapidly move to the cloud, AWS skills have become essential for IT professionals, developers, DevOps engineers, data engineers, and solution architects. This AWS course is designed to provide comprehensive, hands-on training—from foundational cloud concepts to advanced architecture, automation, DevOps integration, and real-world deployment. It equips learners with the knowledge required to work confidently in cloud environments and prepares them for globally recognized certifications like AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator, and AWS DevOps Engineer.
Module 1: Introduction to Cloud Computing & AWS Fundamentals
The course begins with a deep dive into cloud computing concepts, including cloud models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), deployment models (Public, Private, Hybrid), and benefits such as scalability, elasticity, and cost efficiency. Students explore AWS’s global infrastructure—Regions, Availability Zones, Edge Locations, Local Zones, and Outposts. They learn about key AWS concepts like shared responsibility model, on-demand provisioning, pay-as-you-go pricing, and high availability. This module builds the foundation needed to understand every AWS service and architecture pattern introduced later in the course.
Module 2: Identity & Access Management (IAM)
Security is the core of AWS. This module teaches students how to create and manage users, groups, roles, and policies with IAM. They learn MFA setup, access keys, permissions boundaries, identity federation, and how IAM integrates with other AWS services. Hands-on labs include setting up secure IAM users, implementing least privilege access, and creating custom policies. Students also explore AWS Organizations for enterprise-level account management and Service Control Policies (SCPs).
Module 3: Compute Services (EC2, Auto Scaling, Load Balancing)
This module covers virtual servers and scalable computing services. Students learn:
Launching and managing EC2 instances
Amazon Machine Images (AMI)
Instance types (General, Compute, Memory, GPU)
Security groups and key pairs
EBS storage and snapshots
Elastic IPs and placement groups
They also explore Elastic Load Balancers (ALB, NLB), health checks, and traffic distribution techniques. Auto Scaling is covered in detail, teaching students how to create auto-scaling groups, set scaling policies, and build self-healing infrastructure. Hands-on: deploying a highly available web application using EC2 + ALB + Auto Scaling.
Module 4: AWS Storage Services
This module explains the different storage services AWS provides and when to use them:
Amazon S3 – buckets, object storage, versioning, lifecycle policies, replication, and security
S3 Glacier – archival storage
Elastic File System (EFS) – scalable file storage
Amazon FSx – Windows file servers & Lustre
Elastic Block Store (EBS) – volume types, snapshots, and encryption
Students learn how to create S3 buckets, manage object permissions, and integrate storage with applications.
Module 5: Databases on AWS
Learners explore both relational and NoSQL databases:
RDS – MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle
Amazon Aurora – high-performance database engine
DynamoDB – NoSQL database for high-scale applications
ElastiCache – Redis & Memcached caching
Amazon Redshift – data warehousing
Students practice deploying databases, creating read replicas, configuring backup policies, and optimizing performance.
Module 6: Networking & VPC
This is one of the most critical modules in AWS. Students learn:
VPCs, subnets (public/private)
Route tables, IP addressing, CIDR blocks
Internet Gateway, NAT Gateway
NACLs vs Security Groups
VPC peering
VPC endpoints
Transit Gateway
VPN & Direct Connect
Hands-on exercises include building a secure VPC architecture with public and private subnets, routing, and security layers.
Module 7: Serverless Computing
Serverless is one of the most in-demand skills in AWS. Students learn:
AWS Lambda – writing functions, triggers, layers, monitoring
API Gateway – building REST APIs
EventBridge & SNS/SQS – event-driven architecture
Step Functions – orchestration of workflows
DynamoDB integration
Students build real serverless applications using Lambda and API Gateway.
Module 8: DevOps on AWS (CI/CD Pipelines)
Modern cloud applications require DevOps practices. Students learn how AWS supports CI/CD and automation using:
CodeCommit – source control
CodeBuild – building applications
CodeDeploy – automated deployments
CodePipeline – CI/CD pipeline orchestration
CloudFormation – infrastructure as code
Terraform (optional)
Elastic Beanstalk – PaaS deployment solution
Hands-on labs include creating CI/CD pipelines and deploying applications automatically.
Module 9: Containers & Kubernetes on AWS
Containers are a major part of cloud architecture. Students learn:
Docker basics
Amazon ECS (Elastic Container Service)
Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service)
Fargate – serverless containers
Container registries using ECR
Students deploy containerized applications and understand ECS vs EKS use cases.
Module 10: Monitoring & Logging
AWS provides powerful monitoring tools. This module covers:
CloudWatch metrics, logs, dashboards, and alarms
CloudTrail for auditing API calls
AWS Config for compliance
X-Ray for distributed application tracing
Students learn how to monitor EC2, Lambda, RDS, and other resources.
Module 11: Security, Compliance & Encryption
Security is essential. Students learn:
KMS for encryption
Secrets Manager & Parameter Store
Shield & WAF for protection
AWS Artifact for compliance
GuardDuty for threat detection
Learners apply real security best practices.
Module 12: Migration & Hybrid Cloud
This module focuses on tools used for migration:
AWS Migration Hub
Server Migration Service (SMS)
Database Migration Service (DMS)
Application Discovery
VM Import/Export
Students understand hybrid cloud setups using VPN and Direct Connect.
Module 13: Cost Management & Billing
Learners explore:
AWS pricing models
Free tier
Budgets & cost explorer
Savings plans
Reserved instances
Trusted Advisor
This ensures effective cost optimization.
Module 14: AWS Certifications Preparation
The course includes preparation for:
AWS Cloud Practitioner
AWS Solutions Architect Associate
AWS Developer Associate
AWS SysOps Administrator
AWS DevOps Engineer Professional
Mock tests, lab exercises, and real exam-style questions are provided.
Capstone Projects
Students build real-world projects such as:
Deploying a 3-tier web application
Serverless event-driven app
Auto-scaling microservices architecture
S3–Lambda–API Gateway project
CI/CD pipeline with CodePipeline
Secure VPC multi-tier architecture
These projects help learners strengthen their portfolios and job readiness.
